The City of Twin Falls is proposing a new roundabout on the northwest side of the city, and if it gets approved, it will be the strangest intersection in town.

There will be a public meeting in Twin Falls at City Hall to discuss the plan, and residents are encouraged to attend.

A New Bean-Shaped Roundabout is Being Planned in Twin Falls, ID

It’s no secret that the people who are most confident when they come to a roundabout in Idaho are probably the most likely to use it wrong. Who goes when or yields to whom at a roundabout is like the rolling version of a 4-way stop: which we also seem to get wrong pretty often.

In Twin Falls, we have a few roundabouts already and a few 5-point intersections. The newly proposed roundabout looks like a combination of the two.

Will This New Roundabout in Twin Falls Cause More Issues?

The craziest part is that the roundabout isn’t a circle. It’s shaped like a bean or a circle wearing a belt.

The roundabout will join the intersections of Filer, Wendell, and Martin Streets across from the Heritage Assisted Living facility. According to the City of Twin Falls, the project will:

improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection, and will also include new pedestrian accommodations to improve connectivity in the area.

The public meeting on September 11th will take place at the Twin Falls City Hall building from 4 to 6 PM.
