Normally, I would say that I never want war to get close to home but a military exercise this week that will simulate a warzone in the Mountain West, and it sounds like it will be awesome for civilians.

Military Will Create Simulated Warzones in Idaho and Utah Next Week

Air Force exercises involving airmen and crews from Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, Hill Air Force Base in Utah, and with additional help from the Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas will take place starting on October 21st, 2024.

The event is called ‘Raging Gunfighter 25-1’ and during the training exercise, warzone situations, pyrotechnics, and sounds will be used. Civilians in the areas where Raging Gunfighter happens can expect to see high-frequency aircraft takeoff and landing, loud sounds to simulate attack warnings, simulated enemy forces, pyrotechnics, smoke, and other battle sounds.

The Magic Valley Regional Airport in Twin Falls, Idaho is among the locations that will see the event. Raging Gunfighter will begin on October 21st and is expected to last around 10 days.

The event will be an exercise for the military to test their abilities to respond to high-intensity situations. At least during this, we’ll have an explanation for any mysterious ‘booms’ we hear.
