Idaho Passenger Killed and Washington Driver Injured in Recent Idaho Accidents

A young woman is dead following a head-on vehicle collision. Two other people were taken to a local hospital.

The accident happened on State Highway 21 in Boise County, Idaho.

The Idaho State Police report says the accident happened a few minutes after 7 PM on August 15th at mile marker 49.5. The crash involved 2 vehicles, one of which crossed into oncoming traffic, causing the deadly accident.

Idaho State Police reported the following about the vehicles and occupants involved:

• A 19-year-old female, of Homedale, with a 22-year-old female passenger and one juvenile passenger, both of Marsing, was traveling southbound in a 1997 Saturn SL1.
• A 59-year-old male, with a 64-year-old female passenger, both of Kuna, was driving a 2014 Ram 3500 pickup, traveling northbound.

According to police, the Saturn crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic, where it struck the pickup truck. The driver of the Saturn and the juvenile child were taken to the hospital. The adult passenger passed away at the scene of the crash. Neither of the adults was wearing their seatbelts. The child was in a safety restraint seat.

Both occupants of the Ram were wearing seatbelts and were not taken to the hospital.

Driver From Washington Injured in Idaho Accident With a Semi-Truck

A second wrong-way accident was reported by the Idaho State Police on August 14th.

Police believe a van was travelling the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 when it encountered a semi truck. The truck driver was able to react and turn to avoid a head-on collision, but the Caravan still struck the side of the semi, causing a fuel leak and catching fire.

The semi was a total loss due to the fire, but the trailer was saved by Kootenai County Fire and Rescue.

• The truck driver, from Pennsylvania, had his wife and an adult child with him in the semi. They were treated for minor injuries but not taken to the hospital.
• The Caravan driver, from Washington, was taken to the hospital.

Both accidents are being investigated by ISP.
