ID Car Crash Hits Gas Line and Causes ‘Significant Leak’
A scary car accident in Idaho due to possible inattentive driving caused what could have been an extremely dangerous incident on August 29th.
Idaho State Police responded to the crash and required the assistance of other emergency responders and a local gas company to safely clear the scene. Local businesses and the intersection were evacuated for around an hour and a half.
Head-on Collision in Post Falls Strikes Gas Line
Idaho State Police are investigating the accident which happened at the intersection of State Highway 41 and Prairie Avenue in Post Falls. The police report states:
A driver of a Chevy Cruz was traveling northbound on SH 41 in the left turn lane. According to witnesses’ southbound traffic had a green light when the driver of the Chevy Cruz began making a left turn.
The driver of the Chevy failed to yield to southbound traffic and was struck by a Toyota Highlander. The Chevy came to rest blocking both southbound lanes on SH 41. The Toyota ran off the southwest corner of SH 41 and struck an Avista gas line. This caused a significant gas leak.
ISP were assisted by the Post Falls Police, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Transportation Department, and Avista gas employees.

Post Falls is near the Idaho/Washington border and not far from Hayden Lake and Lake Coeur d’Alene.
