A man was hit and injured by a train while walking his bike in Southern Idaho.

The accident happened at the railroad crossing in Shoshone, Idaho.

California Man Injured in Southern Idaho Train Accident

Idaho State Police are investigating the accident, which happened a little before 10 PM on August 1st. The man was struck by the train on US93/Glenwood Street in Shoshone, ID. According to the report from ISP:

A 55-year-old male, from Watsonville, California, was walking his bicycle across the railroad tracks when he was struck by an oncoming train. The male was transported to a local hospital, via ground ambulance, where he is being treated for his injuries.
The oncoming train’s lights, railroad crossing lights, and crossing barriers were operating properly at the time of the incident. US93 was blocked for approximately five and a half hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.

ISP were assisted by various other first responders at the scene, including Lincoln County EMS, the Shoshone Fire Department, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Idaho State Police will investigate the accident.

Idaho State Police are also investigating an accident that happened in Lewiston on August 1st. According to the report, an SUV ran into the back of a trailer being pulled by a Kenworth truck.

At approximately 9:49 a.m., a 43-year-old male, from Lapwai, Idaho, was traveling northbound on US Highway 95 in a 2006 Kenworth tractor, pulling double-trailers loaded with wheat product. A blue 2013 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by a 27-year-old male from Lewiston, Idaho, was traveling northbound US Highway 95, behind the Kenworth tractor and trailers. The driver of the GMC Sierra pickup was traveling faster than the speed of the Kenworth and collided with the rear trailer being pulled by the Kenworth. Wheat product was spilled from the trailer onto the roadway. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both drivers were transported to an area hospital by ground ambulance.
