If there is one thing that sports fans all across the Treasure Valley and frankly, all across Idaho, have been counting down for, it's Boise State's football season. The team has been working hard in the off-season to prepare for one of the greatest 'run backs' of the decade.

Unfortunately, the team fell brutally short.

After a year of dominance on the ground thanks to Ashton Jeanty, Boise State is now forced to find new ways to win. Did Jeanty do ALL of the work last season? Absolutely not--it takes a team.  Did he carry a large load? Certainly.

It showed, in South Florida where Boise State not only lost--but got curb stomped.

Take a look at just a small sampling of what people are saying about Boise State after the brutal season opening loss

It was a very disappointing way to start the season!

The season is young and all hope is not lost, but the internet's reaction to Boise State taking a hard loss like this is certainly loud and obnoxious.

In the loss, Boise State failed to score in quarters 2, 3, and 4 for the first time since 2005! The struggle was real, not only for the team but for fans.

The score doesn't tell the whole story--there were indeed chances to win but the Broncos just couldn't quite figure out how and at the end, University of South Florida scored over and over again, quickly.

Up next? Eastern Washington--a tough Big Sky team, here on The Blue!

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?
