Can You Chop Down Your Own Christmas Tree In Idaho (Legally)?
Before we get to the answer, please allow us to set the mood here:
That's better.
Ok. Let's do the thing.
So, can I chop down my own Christmas tree in Idaho or what?
Yes, you sure can, Clark! If you follow the rules.
Luckily, there's really only one particular rule you need to abide by in order to legally obtain a tree for the holidays by hand: A permit from Recreation.gov. You are also able to purchase said permit from a local ranger station or vendor.
They're typically pretty cheap. Around $10.
And, that's pretty much it! Obviously, you'll want to be extremely careful whilst chopping down a tree. Without proper training, and safety precautions, an axe or a chainsaw can truly ruin your day if not handled with care.
Be careful out there, Sparky. Don't go dyin' on me!

Hol' up.
You got a cat in the house there, Clark? Well, then you may want to rethink putting up a Christmas tree all together.
If you're not familiar, cats are notorious for going full beast-mode on Christmas trees, mistaking them for a climbing toy or jungle gym.
You've been warned.
