Drug Take Back Day to be Held October 26

National Perscription Drug Take Back Day is happening on October 26, 2019.

Throughout the day, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is hosting a Drug Take Back Day with temporary collection sites in communities across the nation.

From 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., within a 50-mile radius of Twin Falls, you have a few options for where you can drop your unused or leftover prescriptions off at the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office. Some of those options include locations hosted by the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office, Filer Police Department, Kimberly-Hansen Police Department, and Minidoka County Sheriff's Office.

The April 2019 Take Back Day brought in 937,433 pounds or 468.72 tons of unused or expired prescription medication.

If you're busy on October 26, don't fret, as there are some collection sites that are always available. We have quite a few options here in the Magic Valley according to the DEA's Diversion Control Division.

In Twin Falls alone, you can always dispose of your drugs at St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute, KJ's Pharmacy, Kurt's Prescription Center Pharmacy, Walgreen's, and the CVS in Target.

A reminder that if you don't attend a Drug Take Back Day event and can't get to a location, there are only a few medications that are potentially dangerous and should be flushed immediately if you can't make it to an event or get to a prescription drug take back site nearby.
