The Xbox One might finally be seeing some momentum shift its way, as Microsoft reports that sales of the new console doubled in the month of June compared to May.

Xbox Wire reported the good news, citing a "strong spike in interest in our Xbox One console options, including the new $399 offering, and the amazing lineup of games announced during E3." Strangely, the report doesn't mention how many consoles were actually sold in May and June, which leaves some room for questions.

Also disheartening is the fact that the Xbox Wire post quickly shifts from "we sold double the amounts of consoles in June" to "here are the games that made the spike in sales possible." There are no quotes from Phil Spencer on how excited he is about the spike and no hard sales figures to mention. Sure, we're excited about Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Ori and the Blind Forest, and Sunset Overdrive, but there are still a lot of other statistics we would like to see Microsoft announce. The lack of public sales figures could be due to not wanting to publicly compare PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sales figures for the month of E3.

Hopefully Microsoft will release the hard sales numbers, and if they do we'll update this story accordingly. Until then, all we can do is wonder.
