William Clark Green is set to release a new album, and Taste of Country readers are getting to hear one of the tracks early in this exclusive premiere.

The Texas native has built a rabidly loyal following well beyond the confines of his home state with his high-energy live shows, building to the point where he's capable of selling a hard ticket in markets from Los Angeles to New York City. He tours hard, playing more than 150 dates all over the country every year to fans of his rough-and-tumble brand of rootsy music.

Green captures that magic on his forthcoming album, William Clark Green Live at Gruene Hall, which is set for release on Sept. 23. The album is the follow-up to 2015's critically acclaimed Ringling Road, and features new live versions of songs from all of his past studio albums.

The 21 tracks include a heartfelt rendition of "Old Fashioned," which was inspired by Green's own roots. The hard-driving electric guitar riff provides a perfect setting for Green's raspy, earnest voice, while the lyrics are vintage, uncompromising Green, lamenting "punk ass kids not giving a damn hanging out at the corner store," and people who are "staring at their phones while the whole world's goin' to hell."

"Them good old boy are few and far between / They're spread out thin from Houston to Tennessee / Yeah my grandpa's spinning in his grave and they're all out there / And I'm old fashioned," he sings in the chorus.

"'Old Fashioned' came out of my mouth with no filter," Green says. "I wish with every song that was the case."
