Where is the Smoke Coming From in the Magic Valley?

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) Idaho forecasters are calling for several days of smokey and hazy conditions, yet southern Idaho hasn't seen any fire activity, so where is the smoke coming from?

According to Troy Lindquist, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Boise, much of the smoke entering the Magic Valley region is from areas to the west and northwest. Fires in eastern Oregon and as faraway as British Columbia, Canada are feeding smoke into southern Idaho. The forecast calls for a high pressure system to continue with hot temperatures into the weekend with haze and smoke, according to Lindquist.

Early next week high temperatures should back off a bit with chances of some moisture. According to the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality website, an air monitoring station in Paul lists the current air quality as "moderate" for southern Idaho.
