We've all been there. You're at lunch with a friend, they forgot their wallet or they're a few bucks short on cash and ask you to spot them a few dollars. And occasionally, the person who owes you forgets to pay you back. This has happened to me a number of times. And I have to admit, I've probably done it as well. Usually, we're only talked about a few bucks here and there so we tend to forget it. Which leads me to my question. How much does it need to be before you'll give your friend a friendly reminder after some time goes by and you can safely assume that they forgot to pay you back?  $50? $20? $10?

Maybe I'm a walking tightwad but I don't think the amount matters. I'm perfectly comfortable giving someone a gentle reminder if they forgot to pay back the $10 I spotted them at lunch. What's wrong with asking?

Many of you commented on Facebook that you should never pay out what you can't get back... and I totally follow that logic. But I have to ask, what's the harm in asking? If my friend needed me to pay because of hard times, I get that. Lunch is on me. And if that was the case, they should have asked me to pay for lunch instead of asking to borrow.
