What do you think will be the most popular Halloween costumes in 2014?  Adweek reports nearly $3 billion will be spent on Halloween costumes this year, so here are my predictions.

I'm excluding ghosts, ghouls, witches, and the like since those are probably pretty safe bets for all foreseeable past, present, and future Halloweens.

Also excluding the notorious skimpy adult costumes, but rest assured, if it's on this list, someone will find a way to take scissors to all the wrong places and sell it to the general public.

    Spiderman

I cannot recall a Halloween as long as I've been alive that did not involve boys (and even some girls) dressing up as Spiderman.

    Ninja Turtles

This is awesome, because all of the kids on my block were, at one point or another, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Character.  My first costume that I got to pick out in the store as a kid: Bebop, the warthog villain.

    Minecraft Characters

The reason?  Parents can make it on the cheap with cardboard boxes.  And chances are their kids won't even notice since they'll be in a 12 hour YouTube marathon watching other people play Minecraft.

Legos (I predict) will also be a likely choice for kids given the Lego Movie.

    Captain America

If it was in the theatres, and also a superhero, rest assured it'll be on millions of little people across the country.

"Nuh-uh, mom, these movies SO are NOT an influence on me!  I'm just gonna wear the clothes, say the catchphrases, ask for the action figures, memorize the narrative, recreate the scenes with my friends, and learn the movie line by line."

    Frozen, Frozen, and more Frozen

Elsa, Anna, and Olaf will inevitably rule the day with their lovable looks and overplayed songs.  Thought you'd heard the last of Let It Go?  MIght be time to let that thought go, because It will be Let Go all up in your face on October 31.
