This cool video, courtesy of BBC's Earth Unplugged, shows a length of chain actively defying gravity. Is it magic or physics?

This is one of those videos that I can easily waste a huge chunk of my day on. The idea is cool, the setup is simple, and the slow motion shots are excellent. Plus, you can try this one at home kids!

Get a long length of beaded chain. The one in the video has at least eight thousand beads. Grab something big enough to hold your beads, and then drop one end of the chain out so that it drags the rest behind it. Gravity and physics will take over and you will actually find the chain floating in front of you.

It's definitely cool and one I want to try at home with my kids.
