Watch Minor League Pitcher Throw Rare Game-Ending Wild Pitch During Intentional Walk

Walk
MiLB.com

The intentional walk may be the most humdrum thing to watch in a baseball game.

Until now.

A recent minor league game between the New Britain Rock Cats and New Hampshire Fisher Cats ended when New Hampshire pitcher Alan Farina unleashed a wild pitch while issuing an intentional walk.

League rules dictate that the second game of a doubleheader go seven innings, so when the score was tied at 5 in the bottom of the seventh New Hampshire decided to intentionally load the bases in order to give the team a force on each base.

Farina smashed that strategy to pieces, though, with the wild pitch that allowed the runner on third to easily scamper home with the winning run and creating one of the more unusual victories you’ll ever see.
