Wanted Twin Falls Man Caught and Faces More Charges

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - While Twin Falls Police were in the process of serving an arrest warrant for Grand Theft to a local man, they discovered three bags of what appeared to be meth.

In court records, police say that just after 2 pm they were sent to a residence in the 100 Block of Heyburn Avenue West. A phone call had alerted officers that 25 year old Michael J. Smith could be found in the home. Smith had been listed by the Twin Falls Sheriff’s office as being their most wanted earlier in the week. He had a warrant charging him with Grand Theft by possession of and/or Disposing of Stolen Property.

In December 2014, it’s alleged that Smith had received $221 in cash for items sold to Magic Valley Gold Buyers.  The jewelry that was sold had a value of $1402, authorities say. The items were reported stolen from a home that had been burglarized.  When police arrived at the home Wednesday March 25, where they believed Smith may be hiding at, they discovered a backpack containing what appeared to be meth along with $761 in cash. Smith told authorities that he had won $5,000 on a lottery scratch ticket. Smith will appear in court on April 3, 2015 for his preliminary hearing.
