Vote On Overnight Campaign At Capital Mall Set For Today

(AP) – Occupy Boise protesters who have erected tents on state land across from the Capitol testified  again for more than two hours, including sex offenders who said a bill in the Legislature to evict them could leave them without shelter. Monday marked the second day of hearings on the measure, sponsored by House Assistant Majority Leader Scott Bedke, to ban camping on the Capitol Mall. A vote was delayed until Tuesday. It was clear some regular tenants have motivations more basic than supporting free-speech rights or seeking redress for the alleged transgressions of Wall Street. Two recently released sex offenders said rousting them could condemn them to living without a roof, or at least a tent, over their heads – and a support structure that’s helped them avoid returning to prison.
