Visceral Games has reassured us that Battlefield Hardline is not just an expansion to DICE's previous title, but a full-fledged game in its own right.

In an interview with PlayStation LifeStyle, Visceral Games lead multiplayer designer Thad Sesser explained that Battlefield Hardline is not a simple redesign or re-skinning of Battlefield 4. The Frostbite 3 engine is still being used as a basis, but there are fundamental changes being made to make it quite different from Battlefield 4.

"Obviously, the engine's the same. We are using Frostbite 3 -- it's a fantastic engine. We have got improvements incoming, like we improved the vehicle physics and so on because, in a cops and criminal setting, vehicle collisions are way more important than in Battlefield," Sesser said. "What you see here today is just a small portion of what we got. We got a wide range of maps, a lot more weapons."

"There is a lot of new content. It's not just a re-skin or a reuse of assets. We've got all new assets, we got a lot of stuff coming in. So look forward, check us out in the future, play it and tell us what you think."

Lastly, Sesser teased that there will be some hidden Easter eggs from Visceral Games put into Battlefield Hardline specifically for fans of the Dead Space series. Battlefield Hardline's beta will end this week, but another will be available for the Xbox platforms before the game's launch this fall.
