Very Rare Photos of an Eagle Attacking a Deer [Photos]

Courtesy Zoological Society of London and Wildlife Conservation Society

When I saw this, my jaw dropped.  I knew eagles were big and capable of taking down large game but it’s just something I’ve never quite pictured in my head.

Thanks to researchers at Lazovsky Nature Reserve in Russia’s Primorsky Territory and a lucky camera trap, we acutally get to see it.  These images were published by the Journal of Raptor Research.

These images capture a golden eagle taking down a deer is an extremely rare glimpse into nature at its wildest.

The deer didn’t stand a chance.  Researchers found the deer carcass nearby.
