Valley Rides Now Serving South End of Wood River Valley

SUN VALLEY (News Release) – Mountain Rides in the Sun Valley area now has a major transportation facility in the south end of the Wood River Valley. The new South Valley facility gives Mountain Rides a major anchor at both ends of the valley.

More than 50 local, state and federal officials attended the grand-opening ceremony Monday for the new 6,300-square-foot South Valley bus facility in Bellevue. The $1.8 million facility will be a permanent docking station for up to six buses, with a state-of-the-art maintenance facility and a park-n-ride lot.

“Public transportation is not just for a specific population,” said ITD Public Transportation Manager Mark Bathrick. “It’s a way of life and community growth. It provides economic growth and mobility for the communities we serve.”

Participants included nearly every valley mayor, the Idaho Transportation Department and the Federal Transit Administration.

Mountain Rides is the second-largest transit company in Idaho, serving about 500,000 riders annually in one of the nation’s most famous resort communities.

“Today is really about the sustainability of Mountain Rides in the Wood River Valley for decades to come,” Bathrick said.
