SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah police say they are investigating after gummy worms laced with alcohol and prescription drugs by high school students sent a teenager to the hospital.

The Deseret News reports that authorities in Brigham City said Tuesday that three teenagers could face charges connected to the doctored candy. Assistant Police Chief Dennis Vincent says the sickened teenager told his parents he'd eaten candy dosed with alcohol and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, though it's not clear if he knew the candy was doctored.

Police haven't identified any other students who might have eaten the gummies and high school locker searches haven't turned up more of the candy. Vincent says police have seen candy dosed with alcohol or drugs before and it can be dangerous. Brigham City is about 60 miles north of Salt Lake City.
