Utah Leads Nation in Computer Ownership

 SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new report from the U.S. Census Bureau finds Utah leads the nation in the percentage of residents who own a computer.

The study released Thursday says about 95 percent of people in the state have a computer at home, compared to an average of 88 percent in country as a whole. Rounding out the top five computer-ownership states are New Hampshire, Alaska, Wyoming and Colorado.

The final two states are tied. The Salt Lake Tribune reports  the University of Utah has a strong history in computer science. The state also has the country's youngest median population, and younger people often adopt new technology more quickly.
