Uncharted 4’s Game Director Leaves Naughty Dog Mid-Development
In the midst of massive layoffs and other substantial departures throughout Sony, the person in charge of Uncharted 4 has left Naughty Dog studios.
According to IGN, Justin Richmond, the game director of the upcoming Uncharted game being developed exclusively for PlayStation 4, has just left Naughty Dog. Richmond has stated that he absolutely loves both his coworkers and working for Naughty Dog as a whole. He also stated his confidence in his team, assured that they will continue creating quality games of the highest caliber.
Richmond has told IGN that he is joining Riot Games, which is known primarily for the immensely popular multiplayer online battle arena game, League of Legends. Justin Richmond originally started with Naughty Dog in 2008, where he oversaw the development of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ multiplayer gameplay. Later on, Richmond acted as game director on Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
This departure comes shortly after Amy Hennig, creative director and head writer of Naughty Dog, left the studio just a few weeks ago. With a multitude of layoffs occuring throughout many of Sony’s development studios, both local and worldwide, this past month has been a very rough for Sony, despite the immense success of the PlayStation 4.
