TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The University of Idaho has some good news for college students.

The university will award more $11 million in scholarships to more than 4,000 Idaho residents for the upcoming academic year, according to a UI news release.

“We are committed to making higher education accessible to all students — financial hardships should not stand in the way of anyone wishing to achieve an advanced degree,” Dan Davenport, director of Student Financial Aid Services, said in the prepared statement.

“The University of Idaho understands that a college degree is something worth investing in, and we believe our students are worth investing in, too.”

For the upcoming school year, the university has awarded more than $25 million in scholarship support to more than 5,500 students from 47 states, according to the release. These scholarships are a combination of merit, need-based and outstanding achievement awards.

Many of the scholarships are funded privately by the University of Idaho Foundation Inc., through the generosity of donors and alumni.
