Twin Falls Scraps Leaf Recycling Program

TWIN FALLS, Id ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) The City of Twin Falls is doing away with its leaf compost recycling program as it is not cost effective. The city council voted unanimously Monday evening to end the program and allow residents to drop leaves at the transfer station.

There is also no limit to how many bags of leaves PSI will pick up from the curb within city limits. To help with the cost the city will issue a $5 coupon for the transfer station to dump leaves and even Christmas trees.

"Because we never really found our stride in recycling, we're land filling the leaves. In fact, Southern Idaho Solid Waste explained to me that in the six counties that they serve, none of the transfer stations are doing any form of composting,” said Jon Caton with the city. Twin Falls residents will receive their transfer station coupon in their water bill.
