TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT)- 30 students and a bus driver are okay after what looked like an alarming situation Tuesday afternoon.

A Twin Falls School District bus was heading north on Blue Lakes Boulevard – when it briefly stopped at a railroad crossing. According to a press release from Western States Bus Company, a veteran driver looked both ways and began driving when the crossing signal was activated. The driver immediately stopped, however the signal arm came down on top of the bus as the train passed. No one was injured and officials tell us there was a safe distance between the bus and the train.

KMVT spoke with Twin Falls School District's Brady Dickinson who told us, "I know that in the state of Idaho as far as regulations are concerned and how buses cross train tracks, there are very specific procedures that bus drivers need to follow. We just need to ensure that every precaution is made to ensure that a bus is not hit by a train."

The company interviewed the driver and is reviewing both the crossing — and the route — to make recommendations to the district if changes are needed. Western states reported the situation to the twin falls school district shortly after it happened.
