TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A Twin Falls nurse has pleaded guilty to illegally prescribing herself pain pills while she worked at a south-central Idaho cancer hospital. The Times-News reports Rebecca Haskins agreed to plead guilty Monday to three felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

In exchange, prosecutors will dismiss three other counts and recommend a three-year probationary sentence. Sentencing is set for Nov. 4. Court records indicate Haskins wrote prescriptions for the  hydrocodone/acetaminophen pills for herself for about two years.

Officials with the Mountain States Tumor Institute said the Board of Pharmacy found 62 instances when Haskins illegally obtained the pills. She said it was common practice for her to write patients' prescriptions and have the doctor sign them. She said she became addicted to the pills after being prescribed them for a shoulder injury.
