TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A 25-year-old southern Idaho man has been sentenced to up to life in prison for child sex abuse charges. The Times-News reports Nicholas Chappa was sentenced by 5th District Judge Randy Stoker in Twin Falls on Friday for lewd conduct and sexual abuse of a minor younger than 16. Stoker said Chappa would be eligible to seek parole after he serves 15 years.

Twin Falls Deputy Prosecutor Suzanne Craig said Chappa was 11 when he was convicted of his first felony sex abuse charge for abusing a 6-year-old. In the most recent case, a jury found him guilty of abusing a 15-year-old. Chappa's attorney Tim Williams said Chappa maintains he is innocent but he takes responsibility for creating a dangerous situation by providing alcohol to minors and using drugs.
