TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A 26-year-old Twin Falls man is charged with vehicular manslaughter for a July drunken driving crash that killed his passenger. The Times-News reports Emmanuel Alvarez Jr. made an initial court appearance Tuesday in the death of 36-year-old Valentino Maestas. His bail was set at $50,000. Charging documents say Alvarez was traveling nearly 90 mph in a 50 mph zone on July 14 when he lost control of his vehicle. Maestas was ejected from the pickup truck and suffered severe head injuries. Court records say a blood test showed Alvarez had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.137 after the night of the crash, above the limit of 0.08 percent at which a person is considered legally intoxicated.
