TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- An Eagle Scout project aims to help clean up an area near Twin Falls that is used as a popular target practice site. Kade Straley, 14, goes to O'Leary Middle School and came up with a service project to place two large trash bins near Devil's Corral, also known as Snake River Rim Recreation Area north of the Snake River Canyon in Jerome County. The area managed by the Bureau of Land Management is popular with people that like to shoot targets and 4x4, as well as hike.

In many of the shooting areas trash is left behind. Straley says he and his family enjoy using the area and felt there was too much trash. He hopes people will use the bins as a convenient way to pitch shell casings, targets, and any other trash taken out there.

Straley got permission from BLM and went before Jerome County County Commissioners for help paying for the two bins. The area is also used as an illegal trash dump site. Straley says that had come up in the discussions when he proposed his project.

He says he'd rather they use the bins than dump the trash out there.  Straley says the bins will set up for about 8 months as a trial run to see how things go. The teen is a member of Troop 90 who helped him set up fencing and gravel foundations for the bins earlier in October.
