Twin Falls Authorities Prepare for Possible Canyon Jump

Benito Baeza

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)-The Twin Falls County Sheriff met with the Twin Falls City council Monday on plans to still jump across the Snake River Canyon by Big Ed Beckley. Sheriff Tom Carter told the council Monday night he has a meeting with one of Beckley’s event organizers Tuesday. Sheriff Carter indicated Beckley Media intends to jump from land near the original jump site. Earlier this year the city council denied Beckley use of the original jump site. Sheriff Carter told the council his department alone could not handle the expected 10,000 people. He said he would need the cooperation of other agencies like the Twin Falls Police and Idaho State Police. Carter said his biggest fear with the crowds would be someone falling off the edge of the canyon trying to catch a glimpse of the jump. Carter indicated that Beckley media intends to hire a security firm out of Boise for the event.
