Trial Begins in Wood River Shooting Case

Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - In the Blaine County 5th District court, jury selection is underway in a felony aggravated battery case. In July of 2013 a shooting occurred near the Subway restaurant on Main Street in Hailey. Authorities say Subway employee Nathan Deford, 25, was leaving the restaurant after closing about midnight on Saturday July 13, 2013, when Anthony Parsons, 29, approached him.

Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Deford apparently owed Parson’s money which is what allegedly caused a verbal argument to begin. As that argument continued, another Hailey resident, Adam K. Boyd 30, a friend of Deford’s, allegedly pulled a .40 caliber pistol from his vehicle and shot Parson’s once in the midsection. Boyd was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery with a weapons enhancement, Police Chief Gunter said.

The question is whether or not Boyd Shot Parsons in Self-defense. Parsons was at St. Alphonsus in Boise for about two weeks following the shooting. Bond was initially set at $75,000 for Boyd. In December it was successfully argued that bond would be reduced to $15,000. Judge Jonathon P. Brody is presiding in the trial. The Defense Attorney is Keith Roark and the Prosecutor is Jim Thomas.
