Fans of RPGs, pro-wrestling, and Double Dragon are going to want to back this back-alley fighter.

Polygon has reported that the Kickstarter campaign for Treachery in Beatdown City has recently gone live. As you can see by its trailer, Treachery in Beatdown City acts as an 8-bit side-scrolling beat 'em up, but with the excellent addition of role-playing game mechanics in controlling to its combat system. You move around its levels like you normally would, but combat is turn-based. You choose attacks from a pop-up menu, and many of them are filled with nostalgic references, such as a Dusty Rhodes elbow.

Leading the development on Treachery in Beatdown City is Shawn Alexander Allan, founder of NuChallenger, who had worked at Rockstar Games for over four years. Treachery in Beatdown City is aiming for a February 2015 release and a campaign goal of $50,000.
