We’re feeling positive today, so we decided to chuck the bad stuff and focus on ten awesome things to check out this week in the world of entertainment and pop culture. We’re headed for a week full of good comedy, fun reality shows (yeah, really) and gratuitous shots of Kate Beckinsale’s breasts. Enjoy!

Total Recall

Can exploitative shots of Kate Beckinsale kicking ass, crashing cars and shooting giant futureguns make up for this remake’s unfortunate lack of Schwarzenegger-isms, Verhoeven-isms and exploding heads? We don’t know, but we’re willing to find out when ‘Total Recall’ redux opens in theaters this Friday

Doug Stanhope: Before Turning the Gun on Himself

Showtime debuts the new stand-up special from hilarious, hard-drinking, brutally honest comedian Doug Stanhope on Friday at 10 p.m. ET. Stanhope’s scathing social commentary will make you squirm as much as it makes you laugh. His veracious, biting wit makes Dane Cook look like Yakov Smirnoff.

The Babymakers

Our pal Jay Chandrasekhar (‘Supertroopers,’ ‘Beerfest’) directed this Olivia Munn-starring hard-R comedy about, in Chandrasekhar’s own words, a team staging “a sperm bank heist.” ‘The Babymakers,’ also starring Paul Schneider, open in theaters on Friday.

Hatfields & McCoys on DVD and Blu-ray

We recommended this action-packed History Channel miniseries when it originally aired in May, and now’s your chance to catch it in case you missed it on the tube. ‘Hatfields & McCoys,’ co-starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton as dueling frontiersman, hits DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday.

Off The Hook: Extreme Catches

We rarely recommend reality shows, but we’re making an exception for ‘Off the Hook: Extreme Catches.’ We’re looking forward to seeing TNA wrestler Eric Young hanging out with America’s “extreme anglers” and training to be a pro fisherman on this new Discovery Channel series, premiering Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. Here’s hoping he spike-piledrives a shark.

Trust Us With Your Life

Our preoccupation with David Hasselhoff compels us to recommend this week’s episode of ABC’s corny improv comedy show. The troupe will re-enact scenes from Hasselhoff’s life, which means callbacks to the awesomeness of ‘Knight Rider,’ the bouncy, beachy insanity of ‘Baywatch,’ and the dark comedy of floor burgers. ‘Trust Us With Your Life’ airs at 9:30 p.m. ET.

The Skyfall trailer

James Bond is back, and this new teaser trailer, which aired during the Olympics, is doing a great job of scraping away our cynicism about the franchise and getting us excited for the next 007 installment. It’s all dark intrigue and acrobatic action, which has us anticipating the flick’s November release.

Marvel’s All Winners Squad

The Avenger’s may be Marvel’s A-team, but their C-list heroes can be just as entertaining, judging by this quirky new web series starring cult favorite characters like Howard the Duck, Squirrel Girl, and Hypno-Hustler!

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

Yeah, we’re still digging on the popular ‘Kingdom Hearts’ series, and we’re excited about this new 3DS game, the seventh in the series, featuring “flowmotion” and, of course, cameo appearances by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.

Not the Israel My Parents Promised Me

Pick up the first edition hardcover of ‘American Splendor’ author Harvey Pekar’s final autobiographical graphic novel, which follows Pekar’s ambitious, deeply personal and entertaining exploration of the history of Jewish people.
