Tim McGraw‘s year is already off to a whirlwind start with a new record deal, the Brothers of the Sun tour with Kenny Chesney and a new single (‘Truck Yeah’) that impacted country radio on July 3. But that’s not where things stop for the singer.

“It’s a pretty busy time in the McGraw household,” McGraw tells Taste of Country with a grin. “It’s a busy summer [already]. My middle daughter goes into high school next year, so I’ll have two daughters in high school. We’re getting ready for that. My youngest goes into 5th grade [next year]. I have a couple of movie projects in the works, the tour, the new album, hopefully coming out in the fall some time, and my wife’s finishing up an album! It’s been a busy year!”

As far as the big screen goes, McGraw says there are a couple of irons in the fire… it’s just a matter of finding the right one with the right timing that allows for him to be a committed husband to Faith Hill and a reliable dad to their three daughters.

“For me, I go through projects and try to find something that I like, and I try to find something that fits within a time frame that I’m available,” McGraw explains. “I only have two or three months out of the year that I even have a chance to do anything like that, around music and family. [But I] first off have to find something that I like, then to find something that fits within that time frame, and thirdly find something where all those things fit that they actually want me for, because I’m certainly not in a position where they’re going to move a movie around for me!”

One good thing that McGraw doesn’t have to worry about much is finding and recording new music. The singer already has 20 new songs in the can for his next album and first on Big Machine Records, two of them being ‘Truck Yeah’ and ‘Mexicoma,’ both of which he has been playing in his live shows.
