Tim McGraw has quietly given away his 100th home to military veterans returning from duty in Iraq or Afghanistan needing a place to live.

Through his work with Operation Homefront, McGraw -- along with Chase Bank -- has placed scores of war veterans in homes they can call their own without having to worry about mortgage payments.

U.S. Army Sergeant BJ Frachiseur was No. 100 earlier this summer. Like those before him, he and his family had to prove they could take care of a home for two years before Chase and Operation Homefront would grant them the house free and clear. McGraw says it’s his way of giving back to the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.

“What matters is these guys go out there and take care of our butts,” he tells NBC’s Nightly News.

The singer understands the importance of having a place to call home. In fact, he sings about it in his most recent hit song ‘Meanwhile Back at Mama’s,’ a duet with wife Faith Hill.
