REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI)-A slow moving thunderstorm hit the Rexburg area with flash flooding, Tuesday afternoon. KIFI-TV reports The  thunderstorm developed west of town around 4:30 pm, moving slowly over the area.  A storm dumped rain and quarter-sized hail on Rexburg, causing flash flooding and property damage. The Madison County Sheriff's Office said it has not gotten any reports of injuries or deaths. Rexburg Police Chief Shane Turman said Main Street was completely flooded, with some parts of town under as much as 6 feet of standing water. City officials said the drinking water is still safe to drink.

Dozens of homes, business, and buildings on the BYU-Idaho campus have been flooded. The city has set up a shelter at the BYU-Idaho Center for anyone who needs a place to stay. It will have beds, bedding and food. The city is working with the county, and Federal Emergency Management Agency to pump the water out as fast as possible but it could take all night, Turman said.
