Three Thousand idaho Jobs Added in May

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho officials say an increase in the number of people choosing to enter the job market bumped up Idaho's unemployment rate from 3.8 to 3.9 percent in May.

But the Idaho Department of Labor on Friday also says employers added more than 3,000 workers to payrolls and increased the state's total employment to a record 764,460. The agency also says that the percentage of working-age adults on the job or trying to land one rose to 64.2 percent.

Officials say it's the fifth consecutive month the state's labor force and state participation has increased, taking pressure off a tight labor market. The agency notes that the nonfarm growth in May was up 1.2 percent with the largest gains in construction, trade and transportation, retail, leisure and government.
