Three Injured in Helicopter Crash near Dietrich

Dietrich, Idaho ( KMVT)- Three people were sent to the hospital after a helicopter went down near Dietrich. The crash is believed to have occurred around 5:45 Sunday evening.  

The helicopter was a charter flight that left from the Magic Valley airport. It went down in a hayfield near milepost 41 on highway 24. Sheriff Kevin Ellis of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office tells us three people were on board at the time of the incident. Two of them were transported to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello by air.

The third was taken to St. Luke’s Magic Valley by ground ambulance. The extent of their injuries is unknown. The Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office, the fire department, and paramedics all responded to the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The FAA will look into the incident tomorrow.
