Thompson Square have pulled out of Friday night’s New Faces Show at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville due to a family illness. It’s not clear if a new act will be named to replace the married country duo.

According to industry veteran Phyllis Stark, the couple has withdrawn due to the illness of Shawna Thompson’s father. No further information about the severity or nature of the illness is available. The band hasn’t said anything on their Facebook or Twitter pages, although Lady Antebellum announced that David Nail will fill in for them on this weekend’s Own the Night Tour dates in Michigan and Indiana. “Shawna Thompson’s father has been quite ill for a few months, and she needs to be by his side at this time,” the post reads.

Hunter Hayes, Nail, Sunny Sweeney and the Eli Young Band are the other acts scheduled to appear at Friday’s event, the close-out to CRS, which is an annual industry gathering in Nashville. The New Faces show is a platform to recognize up-and-coming artists with potential to carry country music to future generations. Last year, Lee Brice and the Band Perry were amongst the performers.
