The Splinter Cell movie is close to having director, since Doug Liman is in final negotiations to direct Sam Fisher's first venture onto the silver screen.

This news comes to us from HollywoodReporter, letting us know that Liman, director of films such as 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' and 'The Bourne Identity,' is in final talks to direct the film that's being developed by Ubisoft and New Regency. Tom Hardy, perhaps most well-known for his portrayal of Bane in 'The Dark Knight Rises,' is set to star in the film. Wouldn't it be cool if they dubbed his voice over with Michael Ironside's?

Thunder Road Pictures' Basil Iwanyk and Ubisoft Motion Picture Group's Jean-Julien Baronnet will be producing, along with Liman's producing partner, David Bartis. The screenplay was written by Eric Singer, the man responsible for the first draft of 'American Hustle.'

We can expect to see Sam Fisher taking names and breaking necks on the big screen in 2015.
