Since it's October, my mind started wandering to the subject of 'What's the scariest movie ever filmed in Idaho?'. I'm now convinced that I've found it.

Do you remember "Ski Party"? Probably not, since it was filmed back in 1965. It was filmed in Sun Valley. Before I continue, please watch the trailer. I'll wait here.

(*BLANK STARE*)

Where to begin? The cast looked innocent enough for 1965 with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. But, somehow something went terribly wrong. I knew this as soon as I heard the words, "What do sunners and surfers do when it snows?".

When a polar bear commits a very inappropriate gesture towards a woman at the :17 second mark and the announcer says "whoops", you know you're in for a good time. But, the true horror kicks in at the :23 second point when dudes start wearing headbands and lipstick.

This entire horror fright-fest was filmed in Sun Valley. According to the Wikipedia page, the Sawtooth Forest was even included in the credits. That's funny because when I contacted the Sawtooth Forest, it denied any involvement in this movie.

The film is almost saved by a cameo by James Brown. Almost.

I suggest that Ski Party is part of the reason why we don't have more movies filmed in Idaho. After a scare like this, who would dare come back?
