Yesterday Gartner, the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, reported that the world spent $9.6 Billion dollars on tablet computers like the iPad last year. So, how much of that pie belonged to Apple's iPad? From Gizmodo:

According to Gartner, the world spent $9.6 billion in tablets. According to Apple's official numbers, the iPad got $9.566 billion.

That means all the other tablet computers, combined, only produced sales of $34 million dollars. The iPad made $9.566 BILLION. I think we have a pretty clear winner here. In just short of nine months Apple shipped nearly 15 million iPads.

And how does Gartner think the iPad 2 will fare in 2011? With the emergence of other high-profile tablets the technology advisory company believes that Apple will pocket another 70% of the projected $29.4 Billion market.
