The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer: What Xbox One Delay?
The cat, the king, the hunter and the goblin all face the spider as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 debuts, even on a console we weren’t expecting.
According to DualShockers, reports that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has successfully launched on all of the consoles it was advertised to do so, with one strange exception — it has also launched on the Xbox One. We recently reported that the Xbox One version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was inexplicably removed from the game’s official website. Activision previously confirmed that the game was indefinitely postponed with the following statement:
“We want to inform you that we are revising our release plans for ASM2 on Xbox One,” Activision confirmed in a recent release schedule update. “When and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD.”
The cryptic nature of this message left us clueless in regards to why the Xbox One edition was pulled from The Amazing Spider-Man 2′s launch — even if there was some sort of disagreement between Microsoft and Activision, the Xbox 360 was still scheduled for its April 29 launch date.
Regardless of this mysterious postponement, the Xbox One version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has digitally launched. Whether or not this was a mistake on Microsoft’s end, the Xbox One version remains buyable, downloadable and playable. We’re unsure whether or not the game had been recalled for technical reasons, but we must remind our readers that there is a risk involved with buying this version of the game, considering that no refunds are made available and the game becomes instantly charged to your account upon purchase. While there has yet to be any official word from Microsoft or Activision, we will continue to update this story once more information becomes available. For what it’s worth, GameStop is still listing a July release for the Xbox One retail version.
In related news, the launch trailer for The Amazing-Spider Man 2 shows off some absolutely breathtaking gameplay footage. Given that web-slinging in this game is mapped to the Left and Right Triggers/L2 and R2 and has been split between left arm and right arm web-throwing, we have a feeling that exploring Manhattan is going to be quite fun just based on Spidey’s method of travel. Toss in the likes of Black Cat, Kingpin, Kraven, the Green Goblin, Electro and Carnage, and it looks like we don’t have to wait for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to see a modern day version of the Sinister Six.
