LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Nez Perce tribal police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man in north Idaho.

KREM-TV of Spokane, Washington, reports that officials said Ambrose Smartlowit was at work at Boyer Farms near Lapwai and did not return home as expected Monday afternoon. Police say he was last seen in a field near the Garden Gulch area where he reportedly had been left on foot without water.

Authorities and Boyer Farms personnel searched for the young man. The Nez Perce County Search and Rescue unit was called out because of dangerous terrain and rattlesnake danger. Officials say the county sheriff's mounted posse found the teen's body in an area virtually obscured by plant growth. Authorities say they're looking for a 51-year-old man for questioning.
