It may be rude to have your cell phone sitting with you at someone else dinner table and it is probably twice as rude if you excuse yourself to answer the phone. But sometimes you just have to take the call.

This raised a red flag with me, only because I was raised that you never ask someone how much something is. It is their personal business how much something cost them. '

On the other hand what if they are simply asking because they want to get the same lamp for their living room. So maybe it isn't a big deal.
