I am so excited tonight is my son's first Christmas program. I was sharing my excitement with Brad Weiser this morning and he gave me some advice. He

asked if I was bringing my video camera. I thought to myself, what kind of question is that

97% of Parents Say They Can’t Vacation Like They Want to

If you don't have kids, you'd better get all your exotic traveling in now.  Book your trip to Cambodia or the Amazon or Tahiti.  Because once kids show up, you're looking at a few decades of Disneyland and places that serve mediocre spaghetti.

The Healthiest and Unhealthiest Kids Meals at Fast-Food Restaurants

Last week, McDonald's announced that starting in September, they're making Happy Meals healthier by adding apples and serving half as many French fries.

According to the website TheDailyMeal.com, the healthiest option is to nix the fries completely and go with chicken nuggets, apples and apple juice, which have a total of 380 calories.

If you get a cheeseburger instead and ask for just fries and NO apples, it's 700 calories.  Now, here's their list of the best and worst options for kids at nine other popular fast food restaurants.

Eight Signs Your Child Might Be Gifted

I like to think that my boys are special, well...special to me at least. If you think your child is above average or "really" special here are eight signs from LilSugar.com that your child is ACTUALLY gifted.

#1.)  They Retain Information. The term "in one ear and out the other" applies for most kids.  But gifted children can usually retain a diverse range of information, and remember it later.

Here's an example given by the National Association of Gifted Children.  They say, quote, "One six-year-old returned from a trip to the space museum and reproduced an accurate drawing of a space rocket he had seen."

Are We Putting Kids At Risk By Making Playground Equipment Too Safe?

Playgrounds seem to be a lot safer today than they used to be. You remember sliding down rusty slides into piles of fiberglass and asbestos. Now they're all plastic, and there's no rusty metal or splintering wood.

Here's an interesting theory from an early childhood specialist in Melbourne from News.com.au, Australia named Prue Walsh.  She thinks that by making playground equipment SO safe . . . it's actually MORE dangerous for kids in the long run.

A Mother Is Suing Chuck E. Cheese’s

My son loves to go to Chuck E. Cheese's and I have never thought it was like a little kid's VEGAS, but Denise Keller does. She just filed a lawsuit against Chuck E. Cheese's because she says all they're doing is running an ILLEGAL GAMBLING operation targeted at kids.

Capitol Weekly reports that Denise wouldn't have a problem if kids could win tickets . . . which they can turn in for prizes . . . at skilled games like Skee Ball and Whack-A-Mole. These games are becoming rare at  Chuck E. Cheese's.

The Three Main Ways You Might Be Sabotaging Your Children’s Health

In a survey by the YMCA, 89% of parents with kids aged five to ten thought they were either "good" or "excellent" at making sure their kids lived a healthy lifestyle.  But one-third of U.S. kids are overweight or obese.

Which means a lot of parents are clueless when it comes to their kids' health.  Here's a list from "Time" magazine of the three main ways you might be sabotaging your children's health.  And yeah . . . it's the ones you're thinking of.

#1.)  Letting Them Watch Too Much TV.  Almost half of the parents surveyed said they let their kids watch more than two hours of TV a day, and 74% of parents said they spent family time doing sedentary things . . . like watching more TV.

Which Combination of Genders Lead To the Happiest Families

You'd think a family with two daughters would equal a lifetime of passive-aggressive fighting and tears on a daily basis.  And . . . you'd be wrong.

More Schools are Getting Rid of Co-Ed Lunches

More and more schools across the country are moving away from co-ed lunches, and making boys eat with boys, and girls eat with girls.  And the reasons are pretty sad for both genders.

For the boys, schools have found that if they're not around girls, they're less likely to show off and FIGHT.  For the girls, schools find that if they're not around boys . . . they're more likely to EAT.

Unsafe Things You Did As a Child

This morning we told you a story about a man who was arrested for battery after folding his ex-girlfriend's mother into a fold-out couch. This story reminded of us of our parents folding us "safely" into couch's when we were children.

We were reminded of other things that our parents let us do as children that we would never allow our children to do today.
