Study Discovers Wealthier Parents More Likely to Download Apps for Kids

A new study by the San Francisco-based non-profit group Common Sense Media found that affluent parents download apps specifically for their young children more than parents of lesser financial means do.

Deemed the “app gap,” researchers found almost half of families with incomes above $75,000 had downloaded such apps, compared with only one in eight families earning less than $30,000. Lower-income families were also more likely to have televisions in their kids’ bedrooms.

Apple Set To Release iOS 5 Today

Every time I check my iPhone today I'm greeted with at least three new app updates. Major apps like Facebook, Twitter, iTunes, and iBooks have seen updates today as Apple prepares to unleash iOS 5 and iCloud on the world.

This is the revolutionary new operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that Steve Jobs demonstrated before his death. Featuring over 200 new features, including the Cloud, this is a major overhaul to the iOS software and the first one that will be current on all cellular carriers (AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint).

My Thoughts on Steve Jobs

Update: Steve Jobs passed away. 1955 - 2011. RIP.

Apple Computers was founded by the “Steves”—Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak—in a garage in Cupertino, California in 1976. Back in those days Apple wasn’t selling beautiful iPhones, iPads, or iPods, they were peddling the Apple I, a personal computer kit each hand-built by Steve Wozniak. The Apple I went on sale in 1976 for $666.66 (certainly some sort of in-joke between Jobs and Wozniak).

File this under "So why in the world did you buy one?"

A survey by Ipsos OTX of 5,013 adults has found that 19 percent of smart phone owners have never used their device to access the Internet.

Furthermore, 32 percent have never used an app, assuring that their smart phone Internet experience -- for which they are presumably paying a monthly charge for -- is extremely limited.

Everybody Panic! Your iPhone is Secretly Tracking Every Move You Make

Here's something new for conspiracy theorists to freak out about.  Your iPhone is tracking YOUR EVERY MOVE.

A team of iPhone app developers recently figured out that your iPhone is actually tracking and logging every step that you take.  And when you sync your phone to your computer, that log is transferred.

Now . . . here are the reasons why you shouldn't freak out about this.

#1.)  There's no evidence that your travel log is being transmitted back to Apple.  And even if it was, I'm not sure that they'd care how often you go to Arby's.
