FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — Fort Hood has reported that it has an active shooter and federal and local agents are heading to the Texas Army base, the FBI and a local sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Four people, including the gunman, were killed and 16 others injured in a shooting at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas Wednesday evening.  Fort Hood officials said the gunman was a soldier who had been receiving mental health treatment and that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Army has announced that Maj. Nidal Hasan will be tried in a military court and is eligible for the death penalty for his role in a 2009 shooting spree at Fort Hood in Texas.
