NOTUS, Idaho (AP) — Law enforcement in southwestern Idaho say the two suspects in the shooting death of a Notus convenience store clerk may have also stolen the store's safe.

Canyon County Sheriff's Capt. Dana Maxfield says the safe was found abandoned near Jackson's store employee Christopher Reese's stolen 2007 Lincoln MKZ Wednesday where authorities believe the suspects left in. A passerby called 911 early Wednesday morning to report suspicious activity. By the time deputies arrived, 25-year-old Reese was dead on the floor in one of the aisles. The two suspects were wearing dark balaclava-style face masks and gloves.

One carried a pistol and the other had a rifle. Sheriff's deputy Marv Dashiell added that no one has been taken into custody but the department has spoken to nearly 30 people who have called in with tips.
